Gooseneck Trailer Tips WAGONS/TRAILERS Miscellaneous “I frequently use a gooseneck trailer around my farm Usually there is nobody around to help me line up the trailer with the ball in the bed of my truck ” says Tom Cogger Washburn Wis who devised a simple method to make hookups easier “I set an 8 by 16-in 1/8-in thick steel plate against the base of the ball with the upper end of the plate resting on a 4 by 4-in wood block I always carry with me As I lower the trailer toward the ball the gooseneck slides along the plate and right onto the hitch ball It takes a little practice to get it right but it works great for me “I have another use for that wood block which is tapered at one end If I get a flat on my tandem axle gooseneck I just drive one wheel up on the block which lifts the flat tire off the ground making it easy to put on a spare Works good even when carrying a big load and eliminates the need for a jack ” Contact: FARM SHOW Followup Tom Cogger 28745 S Maple Hill Rd Washburn Wis 54891 ph 715 373-2108
