Inexpensive Fish Habitat Structures FARM HOME Miscellaneous When Bill Marley of Nokomis Ill wants to go fishing he doesn’t have far to go He inherited a pond from his father C F Marley who was a longtime contributor to FARM SHOW for many years Marley had the old pond dug out by Lester Hamlin a local contractor who dug the pond deeper so that now it covers about 1 1/2 acres “I wanted to add some simple inexpensive fish habitat that fishing lures would not get hung up on ” says Marley “So I bought a few pieces of pvc pipe and put them together in triangular shapes that stand on the pond floor ” To make each structure he started with 10 ft of 3-in pvc pipe which he cut into 5 3 and 2-ft lengths He glued a 3-in sewer joint to the 5 and 3-ft sections then glued a 3-in street elbow into the joint and pointed it downward He attached the 2-ft section to the elbow and then drilled a hole into the top in order to release air from inside the pipe as water rises and covers the structure “I position each structure so the long portion points toward the shore Fish lures won’t hang up on them ” notes Marley Contact: FARM SHOW Followup Bill Marley 427 E Union St Nokomis Ill 62075
