"Streched" Gator Straddles Row Crops
When Joe Burt, Flora, Ill., went looking for a sprayer that would cause the least amount of compaction in corn and beans he decided to see if he could make a sprayer out of his Deere "Gator" ATV.
The problem was that he needed to widen out the wheelbase to 76 in. because he plants corn and beans in 38-in. rows. B

"Streched" Gator Straddles Row Crops ATV'S ATV'S 21-4-20 When Joe Burt, Flora, Ill., went looking for a sprayer that would cause the least amount of compaction in corn and beans he decided to see if he could make a sprayer out of his Deere "Gator" ATV.
The problem was that he needed to widen out the wheelbase to 76 in. because he plants corn and beans in 38-in. rows. Burt's dealer told him it couldn't be done. He disregarded that advice and took the job to Ray and Frank Hosselton of Louisville, Ill. The brothers are known to be wizards at machinery modification. They came up with a way to widen the front wheel sup-ports and completely rebuilt the rear end to extend all four drive wheels.
A spray tank mounts in the rig's cargo box. The pump and boom mount on the tail pump and boom mount on tailgate. gate. Soil compaction is minimal as the rig has a downpressure of only 7 1/2 lbs. per inch when fully loaded.
