Protective cover keeps bearing clean FARM SHOP Maintenance 15-2-28 A new bearing cover designed to fit over exposed bearings on virtually all types of farm machinery provides protection from contamination, according to the manufacturer.
Made from flexible high grade polypropylene, the bearing covers significantly increase bearing life, according to Bearing Buddies, Inc., Regina, Sask. There's no need to dismantle equipment to install the covers, which have metal inserts at each bolt point to allow compression-free tightening.
If desired, grease can be packed next to the bearing seal before the covers are in-stalled. If the bearing is located in a high risk area, a grease zerk can be installed in the bearing cover.
A wide variety of Bearing Buddy types and sizes are available and sell for $7 to $9.
