Instant Steer Tractor Guide System GUIDANCE SYSTEMS Guidance Systems 10-2-35 "It's the first computerized, instantaneous automatic tractor steering system," says Clyde Taylor, manufacturer of a new "instant steer" electro-hydraulic guidance system. "Unlike other add-on guidance systems, which work mechanically and have considerable lag times, this system reacts instantly and lets you travel at much higher speeds in the field."
A pair of discs on a swing arm function as the tracking sensor, running in a guide furrow laid down in the field in a previous pass. The "brains" of the unit is a dashboard-mounted computer which electronically operates a series of directional valves in a hydraulic manifold which in turn automatically steer the tractor wheels. The computer has a built-in draft control that lets you adjust for uneven pull to the right or left. A flip of a switch changes from automatic to manual control. When switched to manual, the tracking sensor lifts from the field automatically to keep it from being damaged.
The guidance system takes about 2 hrs. to install on any tractor.
