The crop is cut by a pair of rotating mowers beneath two large rotating drums and fed into the chopping flywheel by teeth affixed to the two drums. It requires a 135 hp or larger tractor and produces chopping lengths of 1.7 to 12 in., adjustable either by changing the number of knives on the flywheel chopper, or altering the 3 speed, reverse drive (for plug-ups) gearbox.
The pto-driven "3000" is available with a quick-change pickup header (6 ft., 3 in. wide) for grass silage or other windrowed forage. It's currently available only for mounting on tractors with front 3 pt. linkage. "We eventually may develop a pull-type version and a smaller 3-pt. model," the manufacturer told FARM SHOW.
