Non stop baler now on the marker HAY & FORAGE HARVESTING Balers (6) 10-5-25 It's a world's first! Claas of America, Inc., plans to introduce the first non-stop round baler at the Farm Progress Show this fall in Iowa. The baler was already introduced to the European market last spring at the SIMA farm show in Paris. The baler is unique in that it ties and ejects its bale "on the go" without stopping. Totally computerized, the baler gathers hay in a secondary chamber during the short 6 to 10 seconds it takes to wrap and eject the just-finished bale. Bob Brown, Claas product manager, told FARM SHOW the new Rollant Rapid baler uses the same fixed chamber equipped with rollers that's used on the company's other balers, and produces a similar 5-ft. dia. medium core bale with a high density outer layer. Like other Claas balers, it also wraps bales in a protective netting rather than twine. "A mini on-board computer controls forming, wrapping and ejecting of the bale. A monitor in the cab lets the operator carefully monitor baler performance and override any of the functions manually. The baler is driven by its own pto-driven hydraulic motor," explains Brown. In operation, hay is picked up by a conventional pickup reel and fed into the bale chamber by a force feed roller. Once formed, the bale chamber is sealed off while the bale is tied. During that period, hay builds up in a storage chamber just ahead of the bale chamber. Once the bale is ejected, the hay in storage again feeds rapidly into the bale chamber. Brown says the baler weighs about 1/3 again as much as a conventional baler.
