Rotary Rock Picker ROCK PICKERS Rock Pickers 11-4-21 Australian farmer Stuart Tohl built this rotary rock picker that sifts through soil to pick both rocks and roots.
The picker consists of a 2¢-ton capacity circular bin equipped with sets of steel tines mounted on a routing frame. The curved tines scoop through the dirt, carrying rocks up into the bin and then drop down the back end of the machine for another load. Once the bin is full, it lifts hydraulically and then rotates to dump its load.
Tohl, who's used the machine to clear nearly 1,000 acres of new land, says the picker is unique because it'll work its way through plowed ground.
