He Uses Leaf Blower To Apply Dust, Broadcast Seed FARM HOME Miscellaneous 19-3-40 You can broadcast small seeded crops or dust acres of fruit and vegetable crops with this new attachment for leaf blower-vacuums.
Frank Ussery, inventor, says he needed a faster way to broadcast various garden dusts and seeds so he designed and patented a unit that easily attaches to most any commercially available leaf blower.
Made out of plastic, the unit consists of a 5-lb. cannister to hold dust or seed. A vacuum tube inside the cannister pulls material into the blower. A wafer disc floats on top of the material being applied. A regulator valve controls application rates.
"I've used it to dust vegetables and fruit trees, and I've used it for insects around the barn and stockyard," Ussery says. "It's also very handy for broadcasting rye and other small seeds."
Ussery has mounted units on McCulloch and Ryobi leaf blowers. He has a shop interested in producing the attachment if there's enough interest.
