Pickup boom works great for tractor duals PICKUPS Accessories 11-3-4 A new pickup boom invented in North Dakota makes it easy to transport tractor tires in pickups and mount duals.
Manufactured by Davenport Mfg., Inc., New Leipzig, the self-contained, hand-cranked hydraulic boom mounts on a sliding rail fastened to the truck bed. It clamps to the tractor rim and slides to the front of the truck box ù "walked" the length of the rail with a hand crank ù for transport. To mount the tire on a tractor, the boom and tire slide to the rear of the truck.
"You lift the main boom and swing the tire 90? on the upper jib boom. The tire works back and forth freely on the end of the boom for easy placement," says Kenneth Davenport, manufacturer and inventor. Unit leaves most of the truck box free for hauling when not in use, or it can be quickly removed. Capacity is about 800 lbs. Davenport notes that it can also be used to lift barrels, engines, etc.
Davenport, who is just gearing up for production, estimates a selling price of $1,250.
