Incredible Edibles for kitchen walls FARM HOME Food 9-5-30 Fruits and vegetables shown in the accompanying photos don't exist, except in the imagination of Ed Pardee, San Francisco, Cal., a professional photographer with a sense of humor. An active mind and the ability to sculpt food led Pardee to create his first unique food photograph 10 years ago. That first photograph ù showing an egg falling out of a lemon ù now hangs in kitchens throughout the country. Pardee has gone on to create a total of 24 "incredible" food combinations to brighten kitchen walls. Pardee says it can take as long as 24 hrs. to carve the food up and get the appearance just right before he can snap the shutter. "My biggest challenge was the Pinemelon, a pineapple that appears to have watermelon inside. I worked for 24 hrs. straight and whittled through 32 pineapples and 18 watermelons," Pardee told FARM SHOW. All of his Incredible Edibles are unusual combinations of fruits and vegetables that seem to take on a new identity when photographed together. Some examples of his creations are Brusselnuts, walnuts that appear to have brussel sprouts inside; green peppers with a tomato core; a banana that reveals a cob of corn when peeled; a clove of garlic with tangerine segments inside; an apple with an orange inside, and many more.
