Great Way To Pull Roof, Deck, Or Floor Boards FARM HOME Building Techniques 19-1-34 "I came up with the idea for my own use in 1986 when I was tearing down a building in town to get lumber to build a barn on my own place. I needed a tool to pull floorboards and decking off joists and rafters," says Mark Krietemeyer, inventor of the "Wood Popper", which he first told FARM SHOW about in a letter a couple years ago and now has put on the market.
The "Wood Popper" consists of a steel handle with a pair of lifting teeth at the bottom and a small cross pipe that pivots on the top of the joist or rafter. You simply slip the lift teeth under the floor-boards and push down on the handle to pope them off.
Krietemeyer says it looks simple but notes that getting the right amount of leverage for the maximum amount of lift without breaking up the boards is the trick. He makes four different models. Prices range from $35.50 to $39.50.
