High-Top Tennis Shoes Catch On In Texas FARM HOME Clothes 8-6-30 Texas cowboys are starting to wear a new boot in their off hours that cornbines the comfort of a tennis shoe with the support of a boot.
The "Teny Lama" is the brainchild of Louis Lama, president of the Tony Lama Company, El Paso, Texas. At first, the laughter was "long and loud", according to a company representative, until a few cowboys tried them on and discovered they're really comfortable.
The tops of the new boots are leather but the soles are rubber. The non-functional shoelaces are strictly decorative. With jeans down over the top of the elaborately stitched tops, the boots look like ordinary sneakers.
The "Teny Lamas" sell for $135 and are available in white, blue, brown, or red.
