New Manure Spreader Has A Closing Top MANURE HANDLING Equipment 8-3-14 Here's a first ù a flat profile, "two-in-one" manure spreader that features a closing top to keep manure from sloshing out as you travel to the field.
Recently introduced by H & S Mfg., Marshfield, Wis., the HS-400 spreader isn't due on the market until this summer, according to a company spokesman.
The spreader's design is low enough so you can drive under barn cleaners or side load it with solid, liquid or slurry manure.
The closing top consists of two hydraulically-operated covers, one from the rear and one from the front, that enclose over the top of the spreader to keep manure from sloshing out. However, the cover doesn't form a tight seal and small amounts of manure can dribble out. The covers fold out of the way to load the spreader. You can unload with the covers either open or closed.
The spreader features dual axles, and has a 400 bu. capacity. It's powered by the tractor's 540 rpm pto, and is equipped with twin beaters and a hydraulic endgate.
The HS-400 will sell for right at $10,800, complete.
