Skid Plate
If you're tired of your trailer jack (post-type or wheel-type) sinking into soft ground, you can eliminate the problem by installing a skid plate. Remove the wheel (if it's a wheel-type jack) and weld a 16-in. dia. disc to the bottom of the post. If the disc sticks out too far on the sides, trim it down with a cutting

Skid Plate WAGONS/TRAILERS Accessories 20-5-34 If you're tired of your trailer jack (post-type or wheel-type) sinking into soft ground, you can eliminate the problem by installing a skid plate. Remove the wheel (if it's a wheel-type jack) and weld a 16-in. dia. disc to the bottom of the post. If the disc sticks out too far on the sides, trim it down with a cutting torch. One big benefit of the disc idea is that it allows the jack to slide on the ground so you can push the hitch around a bit when hitching up if you didn't back up right under the hitch.
