Bale Unroller Loads, Unloads Itself HAY & FORAGE HARVESTING Bale Handling (5) 20-5-32 "It's far superior to anything else on the market," says Herb Kienast, the farmer-manufacturer of this new 3-pt. "spinner" bale unroller that uses a pair of rotating drums to pick up the bale and also unroll it from either direction. The hydraulic-operated unit is equipped with two rotating drums spaced about 3 ft. apart. The front drum is bigger than the rear drum. To load a bale you lower the unit to the ground and back into the bale, then rotate the rear drum to bring the bale forward into the open space between the two drums. To unroll the bale you activate both drums, rotating them in different directions as you move forward. Hay drops between the rollers in a windrow on the ground. As the bale gets smaller, you activate a hydraulic cylinder that moves the rear drum for-ward to keep constant pressure against the bale until it's completely unrolled. The drums can be operated in either direction depending on which direction the bale was rolled. "It costs less, works better, and is faster to use than any other bale handler," says Kienast. "It's narrow enough to fit through a 9-ft. opening and there are no wheels under it so it's easy to maneuver. We've developed it over several years so it's built to last." Sells for $2,995.
