Electric Netting Comes Complete With Posts FENCING Fence Systems 1-5-16 Latest new wrinkle in fencing is Flexmet, an electric netting that comes complete with built-in plastic posts spaced 12 ft. apart.
Developed in England, it's marketed in the U.S. by Live Wire Products, Grass Valley, Calif.
All the horizontal strands, made of polythene twine, are interwoven with stainless steel wire and are "hot", except for the bottom horizontal strand. It and all vertical strands carry no electrical charge. The "hot" horizontal strands are permanently linked together at each end of a length of netting to ensure continued electrification even if a wire is cut or broken. If a wire breaks, the ends can be retied in a knot, or clamped together.
Steel tips on the posts make them easy to set by hand. Once strung out, the netting can be easily tensioned by hand. If the fence becomes loose after use, the posts can be hand set in zigzag fashion to take up the slack.
Flexinet measures 33 in. high and comes in 50 yd. rolls. It sells for $50 per roll and, according to the manufacturer, can be used to contain cattle, hogs, sheep or horses.
