World's Best Cow
It was really no surprise to anyone when Brookview Tony Charity was selected the supreme champion cow for the second consecutive year and the third time in four years at the 1985 World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wis.

World's best cow AG WORLD Ag World 9-6-17 It was really no surprise to anyone when Brookview Tony Charity was selected the supreme champion cow for the second consecutive year and the third time in four years at the 1985 World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wis.
The grand champion animal from Canada is considered by many to be the best cow ever to walk the face of the earth. Included in that group of believers is Bob Murphy, a New Yorker who classified the cow as a 97 Excellent in June 1984.
"There have only been 21 cows ever rated at 97 points, and she's probably the best one ever," says Murphy. "Her overall conformation is the most correct of any cow I've ever seen. And her tremendous ability to milk also has to be taken into consideration."
As a 2-year-old, the cow produced 19,702 pounds of milk in 365 days, while as a 3-year-old, she was at 21,789. By the time she reached age 4, she was producing 37,340 pounds. This past year, as a 5-year-old, she produced 39,015 pounds of milk with 1,422 pounds of butterfat.
The famous cow was solely owned by Hanover Hill Holsteins of Port Perry, Ontario, until part interest was purchased in the animal earlier this year for $1.45 million by Romandale Farm, another Canadian Holstein breeder. The animal has been declared the "ideal cow" back home in Canada, and to symbolize that fact, a statuette of the cow stood in the animal's double stall at the expo, with features identical to Brookview Tony Charity.
Murphy, who classifies cows for the National Holstein Association, said he's been classifying Holsteins for five years and has never seen anything close to the cow in terms of correctness.
"In my opinion there has never been a cow this good, and it will probably be a long time before there will be again," he said. "There could be a cow that comes along in history that is better, but we probably won't be around to see it."
