Do Everything Header Cuts, Chops, Conditions COMBINES Headers 1-6-18 Latest candidate for "most versatile forage harvester on the market" honors is New Idea's just-introduced Uni Flail-Mate header attachment. The "do everything" header has a 12 ft. cutting width and is reportedly the industry's first forage harvester attachment capable of performing as a mower-conditioner, windrow pickup and direct cut head. It mounts and dismounts in the same manner as New Idea's Uni row crop and pickup heads. The new Flail-Mate features electro-hydraulic header height control, adjustable cutting height, 52 replaceable flails, a cutting height range of 2 to 7 in., 65 in. swath width, 36 in. windrow width and overload protection. A Uni forage harvester equipped with the new Flail-Mate header attachment can be used to direct cut or pick up stover and other crop residues, to cut and condition hay, to direct chop hay, and to pick up and chop windrowed hay or stover.
