Spreader Kit For Axial-Flow Combines COMBINES Accessories 19-5-12 "Our new spreader kit for IH Axial-Flow combines has curved metal deflector fins that throw straw and chaff out farther than the original rubber bats," says Brad Exner, Killaly, Sask.
Three 5-in. high curved fins bolt onto each existing chaff spreader, replacing every other bat. The fins are curved in opposite directions on each spreader.
"The curved design holds material longer before letting it go, spreading residue out to the full width of the combine," says Exner. "The kit includes longer drive shafts than the original ones so the tops of the fins clear the sides of the combine. Our kit is much less expensive than hydraulic-driven chaff spreaders and requires no extra horsepower. Also, it doesn't obstruct access to the sieve. The angle of the fins can be adjusted to vary the spreading width by changing the position of the bolts."
