See-Through Cab For ATV'S ATV'S ATV'S 20-5-13 "It keeps me warm in even the coldest weather and I always have a clear view," says inventor Ron Eberle about his prototype "see-through" cab for ATV's. The cab is made from Lexan plastic and consists of seven bolt-on sections including two doors. The top is painted white to pro-vide shade and there are two vents on back. "It fits tighter than commercial ATV can-vas cabs and lets me see all the way around," says Eberle. "I tested it last winter and was able to keep warm even in temperatures as low as 17 degrees below zero." Eberle says a commercial cab could be manufactured as a do-it-yourself kit. He's looking for a manufacturer. Eberle has also built a 6-ft. self-powered mower deck that mounts on front of a Deere Gator. The 3-blade deck is powered by an 18 hp Vanguard gas engine, and rides on four 8-in. caster wheels. It can be hooked up directly to the Gator's frame or to the mounting bracket for a dozer blade. An "articulating connector" behind the deck lets the unit float from side to side as well as up or down on uneven terrain. "The same deck could be mounted on front of an ATV. It makes a low-cost riding mower that lets me cut faster than I can with a riding mower," says Eberle. "I can mow at about 4 1/2 mph even in grass up to 18 in. tall. I never have to look back or run over uncut grass like I would with a rear-mounted deck.
