New Hoe Made Out of Old Sicle Blades CULTIVATORS Cultivators (58C) 15-3-32 "It's the best garden weeding tool ever made," says Eldan Ansel, Ulysses, Kan., inventor of new "Star Weeder" garden hoe.
"You don't have to chop or dig. Just tilt it forward or back and push it under the surface of the soil. It glides along, cutting weeds and tilling soil at the same time. Slips easily in and around plants and under fences and slices right through even the biggest and toughest weeds," says Ansel.
Because it's constructed with four sickle blades, all facing outward, you can move the weeder in any direction to cut weeds. "It takes a lot less effort to use this hoe. With a conventional hoe, most of the effort is used raising the hoe for chopping out weeds. This just slides along the ground," says Ansel, the founder of Ansel Cab Co., the first manufacturer of cabs for combines and the first to put air conditioning in tractor and combine cabs.
The Star Weeder sells for $21. Other models with a single sickle section or two sections together are also available.
