Grain Aerator Helps Eliminate Hot Spots GRAIN HANDLING Accessories 1-6-12 If corn or other grain you stored this fall needs aerating to eliminate potential "hot spots" or spoilage, one way to get the job done - without having to move the grain- might be to install a portable "auger tip" aerator from the Falls Tool Company, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Its auger-type tip makes it easy to screw the 6 ft, long unit right into the grain. The portable aerator is 4 in. in dia. and made up of a 3 ft. long perforated section at the bottom end, and a 3 ft. long solid section connected to it. A 12 in. fan, driven by a totally enclosed ball bearing motor (100 watts), pulls air through the grain. Labelled the Model 412. it retails for $79 f.o.b., including the motor and fan. A companion model 610, made without the auger tip for installation via roof chains before filling, sells for $69. The latter model is made of 6 in. dia. pipe and is equipped with a 10 in. fan driven by a 9 watt motor.
