Lock-On Truck Bodies TRUCKS Accessories 9-1-25 "It lets one truck take the place of several," says Rober Beam, Albion, N.Y., who, along with brothers Michael and Richard, has come up with a new interchangeable truck body system for pickups that allows one man to completely change the body of a pickup in 5 min. or less. When not in use, the truck bodies stand on jack stands. The, modified truck bed backs under the stands and raises hydraulically to lock on to the underside of the bed and pull it down to the truck. The frame of the bed has opposing hooks at a fixed distance apart and rollers that engage the hooks to secure the body to the truck. Once locked in place, each truck body can be dumped hydraulically, if needed. Interchangeable bodies include standard boxes, flatbeds, 5th wheels, tag axle utility boxes, tag axle live-stock trailers, dump boxes, hay racks, and so on. "You don't have to buy a different pickup for every new job. The system will fit ¢ to 1-ton pickups and can even be used, on a larger scale, on trucks up to 20 ton," says Robert. The hydraulically-activated Duo-Lift system fits to the chassis for about $6,900 installed. Altering each box costs $200 to $400. The company can also supply parts and plans for do-it-yourselfers.
