Oberg Tattle Tale Filter FARM HOME Cars 10-4-34 The Oberg Tattle Tale filter consists of a stainless steel screen that mounts in a protective metal housing anywhere in the engine compartment. It can be used to screen engine oil, transmission fluid, or hydraulic oil on tractors, pickups or cars.
Unlike most conventional paper filters, the Oberg filter filters 100% of the oil all the time. Already widely used by race car drivers, the filter is ideal for farmers, truckers, and others who put equipment to hard use, according to RH Machine in Caldwell, Idaho, distributor.
An adaptor simply replaces the filter on your existing engine. Two hoses run from the adaptor to the filter. Oil enters one side of the filter and must pass through a donut-shaped screen to the outlet port on the other side. A set of channels in the filter cause the oil to be evenly distributed over the entire surface of the filter element.
To "change" the filter, you simply unfasten 4 bolts and rinse the filter element with a solvent. Should the filter element ever clog in operation, oil is diverted and full flow of oil is not restricted. A warning light lets the operator know when the filter needs changing. It takes only a couple minutes to clean the filter. There are no replacement parts to buy.
"It screens to 3 microns, which is much smaller than any paper filter you can buy. It greatly extends oil life and provides continuous protection for your engine by filtering 100% of the oil, unlike paper filters which only filter a portion of the oil at a time. Another advantage of the filter is that you can see what type of material is in the oil by visual inspection every time you clean the filter. Lets you keep tabs on the condition of your engine," says Kent Cronk, company representative.
The regular-sized filter, for cars, trucks and small tractors, sells for $99.95. A large model for big 4-WD tractors will soon be on the market.
