Leveling device for bunker silos HAY & FORAGE HARVESTING Forage Handling 10-2-25 European farmers who store silage in trenches, bunkers or piles are using a German-made BVL distributer to level the stack as it's made and thus ensure a tighter pack and seal.
The drum-shaped device (8 ft. wide and about 3 ft. in dia.) is pto-driven at 32 to 50 rpm's. Eight large spikes, with rectangular-shaped flanges on the end, act as fingers to stir and mix the silage, and to move it to the outside edges of the distributor on each pass. A 30 hp. or larger tractor powers the device.
