Crippled Dog Gets Around In Wheelchair
A California dog lover who spent over $1,500 at a pet hospital trying to correct his dog's spinal disc problem, finally found a way to give his crippled dog, Barney, mobility by building a "wheelchair" for the dog's rear end.

Crippled Dog Gets Around in Wheelchair AG WORLD Ag World 11-5-17 A California dog lover who spent over $1,500 at a pet hospital trying to correct his dog's spinal disc problem, finally found a way to give his crippled dog, Barney, mobility by building a "wheelchair" for the dog's rear end.
Ron Powell of Costa Mesa used light-weight aluminum bars and rods salvaged from a bicycle to make the frame of the wheelchair. A padded strap fastens it around his neck and his rear legs fit into foam rubber "stirrups". The bars are padded at rear to support most of the Barney's weight. Bicycle training wheels were just the right size for the little dog.
Barney uses his front legs for locomotion and to brake himself. He can get up and down over high curbs and other obstacles by himself.
