New-Style Curbless Fiberglass Tie Stall LIVESTOCK Buildings 7-5-34 "It's curbless and the hottest new thing going in tie stalls for dairy cows," says Cortex Inc., Melrose, Minn., of its new-style fiberglass "Fibex Stall".
Adaptable to new or existing construction, it eliminates the need for a concrete curb. Because of its fiberglass construction, it's non-conducting and thus helps control stray voltage. The stalls can be drilled through anywhere for installing drinking bowls, stall dividers, or any other add-on hardware. The solid fiberglass exterior coating is easy to keep clean and is Grade A approved for cleanliness, the manufacturer points out.
To install in existing barns, you simply bust out 16 in. of concrete on each side and install the modular sections.
Individual sections sell for $149.95. They're 1? in. thick and are "freestanding" in a 6 in. thick layer of concrete. Short steel rods (about 2-ft. long and 1-ft. apart) imbedded in the concrete and running at right angles through the bottom, help hold the sections in place.
