Cart Transports Wide-Front Tractors TRACTORS Miscellaneous 2-6-6 New from Kosters Manufacturing, Sioux Center, Iowa, is a special cart for transporting wide front tractors with a truck or pickup. An optional ramp allows it to also be used for towing tractors with narrow row-crop front ends.
The tractor's front axle is cradled in the cart's lifting arm (see photos). Once cradled, the tractor is driven forward, causing the lifting arm to raise up and over center, and into the transport position. This "ride-on" mounting design offers quick and easy loading, and makes for straight "no sway" towing, according to the manufacturer.
Ends of the lifting arm are adjustable in or out so they can be positioned as needed to clear the tractor's steering tie rod when raising or lowering the tractor. "We've used the cart to tow tractors as large as Deere's 4430," explains Gary Draayer, sales manager. "It will handle a disabled tractor, or a tractor with equipment mounted or hitched behind."
Kosters wide front tractor cart sells for $485, including tires (15 in.) and wheels.
