A Fix For Swinging Doors
I had to kick myself the other day when we received a “shop tip” from Louisiana reader Dennis Rich about how he stops doors from swinging back open after being pulled loosely closed, but not latched. He simply bends a couple hinge pins on the door to create friction.

A Fix For Swinging Doors FARM HOME Miscellaneous I had to kick myself the other day when we received a “shop tip” from Louisiana reader Dennis Rich about how he stops doors from swinging back open after being pulled loosely closed but not latched He simply bends a couple hinge pins on the door to create friction The reason I was annoyed was because I had forgotten to pass along this simple idea myself The bathroom door in our house has always been a free-swinger so if you push it shut at night but don’t want to make noise latching it you can’t The door swings all the way back open A while back I got the idea of taking a hammer to a couple of the hinge pins to bend them slightly and then inserting them back into the hinges Worked perfectly! Felt like a genius I fixed a couple other doors the same way including my office door at work which always had to either be shut or all the way open So thanks Dennis for sending the idea I just wish I would have run my tip before getting yours!
