Tree fork mounts on tractor 3 pt MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENT Miscellaneous 17-3-18 A 3-pt. mounted, hydraulic-activated "tree fork" makes transplanting trees a much easier job for Wisconsin farmer Don Brehmer.
"I plant trees close together as seedlings to make them easy to cultivate. After 2 to 4 years, I move them with my tree mover to a windbreak or woodlot," says Brehmer, noting that his tree fork is designed to trans-plant trees with trunks up to 1 in. dia.
It consists of two digging forks, each equipped with three 1-in. sq. steel tines. The forks mount on pivoting brackets that are controlled by a single hydraulic cylinder.
Brehmer mounts the tree fork on his 350 International's quick hitch. The tines are pushed straight down into the ground on either side of the tree with the tractor 3-pt., and then the cylinder on the tree mover is used to close the tines as the hitch is raised, scooping the tree out of the ground. He then uses the tree fork to transport the tree to its new location.
