Agri-Terrorists Strike Cornfields CROPS Miscellaneous Canadian Thomas Wahler was combining corn last fall on his farm near Bourget Ontario when one of his tires was popped by a sharpened pipe that had been driven into the ground between rows according to a report in Ontario Farmer After patching the tire Wahler headed back into the field and ran into pieces of steel tied to cornstalks that went through his combine After spending about $1 000 to get the combine going again he moved on to another more remote field less likely to have been “spiked” by anti-farming “agri-terrorists” Wahler knew that once harvest was over he was going to have to spend a lot more than $1 000 to fix his combine not to mention the losses from not harvesting the steel-infested field Wahler ended up on television along with another farmer whose field had been spiked with rebar Several other area farmers also reported sabotaged fields One fellow lost a brand new log skidder that was set on fire A sign was left nearby saying “No More Land Clearing” Apparently the ultimate goal of the protestors is to stop the expansion of farms and to “save” trees Police have so far been unable to arrest any of the perpetrators
