Reusable Laundry Discs Eliminate Need For Detergent FARM HOME Clothes 19-4-31 You can clean laundry without detergent using new reusable "laundry discs", says Safequest Marketing, Spokane, Wash.
The 3 1/2-in. dia. discs consist of small ceramic beads in a plastic "cage". Three discs are used per load of laundry. As the discs bounce around inside the washing machine, the ceramic beads release electrons which reduce the surface tension of the water. Ionizing the water greatly in-creases its ability to penetrate into the cloth fabric and lift out dirt particles.
"We don't promise cleaner clothes than you get with normal detergents, but equal results at tremendous savings," says cornpany representative Don Gilbert. "You'll still need to pretreat stains and grease spots just as you would with normal detergent. We sometimes put in an extra teaspoon or tablespoon of soap for an extra boost on light colored clothes because there are no whitening agents in the discs.
