Remote Welder Control WELDERS/TORCHES Welders/Torches 6-3-27 When you get a look at the new remote welding control from D-S Welding in Newhall, Calif., you might wonder why every welder made isn't already outfitted with the new controls.
"You'll save labor, fuel and lower maintenance costs by being able to control the welder from a distance. A welder runs needlessly 80% of the time. Our controls let you turn it off when you aren't welding," says Dave Shields, of Anderson Equipment, a distributor in Van Nuys, Calif.
The remote controls perform two separate operations. They start and stop the machine and, with a 12-volt powered motor gearbox, adjust the welder's amperage rheostat.
Only three wires connect to the inside of the welder. The controls come with a standard 100-ft. remote cable. An optional 50-ft. extension cable is also available. Shields says the cables have been extended as much as 400 ft. to accommodate weldors working on radio towers.
The start and stop control sells for $299. The start and stop control, combined with the amperage control, sells for $700.
