Apple Cider Press FARM HOME Food “I built this hydraulic cider press for next to nothing ” says Greg Krush Ft Collins Colo “I use an electric-operated garbage disposal to crush apples and a hydraulic-powered press to squeeze out the juice ”
The garbage disposal mounts on one side of the press and shoots the minced apples into a food-grade slatted bucket that’s lined with cheese cloth Krush places a wooden lid and a board over the chopped apples and then slides the bucket under the press to squeeze the juice out The press consists of a steel plate attached to a hydraulic cylinder that operates off a 12-volt Tommy hydraulic lift pump
The juice then flows out of the bucket and onto the press’s sloped floor From there it flows down a channel and into another bucket placed on the ground
