Tension Adjuster For Deere Square Balers HAY & FORAGE HARVESTING Balers (6) 18-4-12 New tension adjuster lets you use a single crank to quickly and easily adjust bale tension springs on both sides of older model Deere square balers at the same time, eliminating the need to walk back and forth from one side of the baler to the other, says Carroll Spaulding, Hollis, N.H. The tension adjuster is designed for Deere 30 or 40 balers equipped with hydraulic bale ejectors. It consists of two lengths of 1 1/2 by 3 1/2-in. box steel, two sprockets, and a chain that ties the cranks together. The crank extends through a 5/8-in. dia. hole in the top piece of box steel and is welded to a threaded steel rod on the spring. "It saves a lot of time and also makes the baler safer to use because you never have to walk behind the bale ejector," says Spaulding. "The problem is that when the bale ejector is added, there isn't room for the cranks. The dealer replaces the cranks with a hex bolt and supplies a ratchet wrench that's used on the bolt to adjust tension. This adjuster can also be used on some other baler models." Sells for $125.
