Fanciest Pickup Money Can Buy PICKUPS Miscellaneous 8-3-19 If you're looking for the fanciest, most deluxe pickup money can buy, take a look at the new "pickup line" from Executive Coach Builders.
Executive Coach Builders supplies limos to the wealthy, and to governments in the U.S., Russia, England, Switzerland and many other countries around the world. Until recently, the company rarely sold a customized vehicle to a farmer or rancher. However, since building their first pickup limo as a sales gimmick for a car dealership, they've been swamped with more than 10,000 requests for more information and have a waiting list of clients.
The standard pickup limo is a 1-ton Chevrolet Silverado crew cab that the company "stretches" 46 in., increasing the length from 164.5 to 210.5 in. Inside the resulting passenger compartment, which comfortably seats eight, a wet bar, TV, stereo, top-of-the-line velour interior, deluxe climate controls and more are supplied as standard equipment. Options available include a video tape machine, video games, radar units, reading lights, electric drawers, safe, and a desk and bed.
Charles Throneberry, vice president of Executive Coach Builders, says the company begins by cutting the frame of the truck and lengthening it. "We then construct the passenger compartment and insulate every spot on the truck that's likely to let in sound.
"We built the first one at the request of a dealer who wanted it as a showpiece. Since then, demand has mushroomed. We're building one right now for a rancher in New Mexico," says Throneberr.
The company can convert Ford, Chevrolet or GM pickups. The conversion costs $40,000. If the company supplies the pickup, the cost for a completed pickup limo is right at $55,000.
