Self watering pot helps plants thrive FARM HOME Miscellaneous 12-1-30 A new self-watering plant pot from a California manufacturer takes care of the problem of applying too little or too much water to indoor plants.
The pot has a see-through fill-spout that you simply keep full of water. Capillary action provides water to the plant from a waterwell at the bottom of the pot, allowing each plant to take in only as much water as it needs. The pot is designed to aerate the root system as well. Liquid fertilizers can be added normally to the water.
"Self-watering pots are great for people who travel or like to keep plants in a second home. When full they'll keep a 6-in. plant watered for up to 4 weeks," says a company spokesman. Pots range in price from $4.25 to $11.95, depending on size.
