FAE, based in Fondo, Italy, has manufactured rock crushers for a decade. They are now available in the U.S., with offices in Flowery Branch, Ga. "Skids gather the material from the side, feeding the rotor," Eavenson says. "The machines are equipped with an adjustable breaker bar that controls the size of material being produced. The heavy-duty tungsten-carbide hammers reduce rock or stone material to a size that can be used or left in place, thus eliminating the need for picking and hauling. The patented grader blade leaves the material leveled and compact." The rock-crushing machines come in three sizes with width options from 4 to 8 ft. They operate off hydraulics or pto's of high-flow skidsteers, tractors, or prime mover machines. The smallest model requires 80 to 220 hp and the largest model requires 180 to 300 hp. The crushers are capable of working various depths from 6 to 16 in. "A creeper gear transmission is required to operate them," Eavenson notes. Besides farm use, customers also buy them for maintenance and leveling of dirt roads, forestry roads, and ski slopes. Prices range from $30,000 to $110,000. Find local dealerships on FAE's website.
