Make Your Own Fence Rails, Posts FENCING Tools 2-2-21 "Its great for making your own fence rails and fence post," says Vermeer Mfg. of its new rail splitter. You don't have to worry about length of the log. Just hook the splitter up to the hydraulic system of your tractor and it's ready to go.
Here's how it works:
For large logs up to 10 ft. long, a tractor is used to lift them onto the machine. Side panels keep the logs from falling to the ground. With the use of the hydraulic system, the log is pushed into the splitting blade by a big, powerful hydraulic cylinder that has 30 in. of stroke. On the return stroke, the operator moves two levers that engage a pair of catch blocks to move the log and the splitting blade back to the starting position. Once the cylinder has retracted, the operator disengages the two levers and moves the hydraulic lever to push the log into the splitting blade further until the entire log is split. Splits long logs, or any other wood pieces up to 10 ft. long, in a matter of seconds, according to the manufacturer.
Suggested retail is in the neighborhood of $2,000.
