Frank Miller of Beecher City, Ill., had a lot of trouble with raccoons knocking his garbage cans over and scattering the contents. So he used scrap metal to build a coon-baffling base to hold the can and started using bungie cords to hold the cover.

Holder Baffles Coons MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENT Pest Animals 31-6-31 Frank Miller of Beecher City, Ill., had a lot of trouble with raccoons knocking his garbage cans over and scattering the contents. So he used scrap metal to build a coon-baffling base to hold the can and started using bungie cords to hold the cover.
He fashioned a base made of crossed U-shaped iron which he welded together. Then he welded on a short rod, which he pushes into a hole in a slab of concrete that he set in the ground.
So far, the coons remain baffled and frustrated.
