Semi Tankers Turned Into Giant Artwork AG WORLD 31-6-21 What looked like a pair of semi tankers somersaulting through the air was actually a popular artwork at a festival called Burning Man held recently at the Black Rock Desert of Nevada. More than 47,000 people attended the 8-day festival this past summer. The sculpture of semis called Big Rig Jig was created by New York sculpture artist Mike Ross. With the help of friends, he reworked the semis, cutting them apart and recombining the empty shells with a skeletal structure of pipe and beams.
Sarah Wittman, a Seattle resident, attended the festival. "You could climb inside, all the way to the top. There were no stairs or anything, just the welding they did to hold it together."
Wittman was not alone as a steady stream of visitors explored the 38-ft. tall truck-art. Like all structures at the unusual festival, the semis were dismantled and removed within a month after the event ended.
