Fuel Oil Dryer Is Direct Fired GRAIN DRYERS Grain Dryers (29E) 1-4-28 "Oil fired crop drying is the least costly available. And this is the most efficient vehicle to deliver it - a perfect match!" So says Aerovent of its direct oil fired crop dryer, said to be "the most efficient oil-burning crop dryer available." "We've eliminated the costly heat exchanger and offer more usable heat with practically no smoke or odor," Bob Rogers, Aerovent assistant national sales manager, told FARM SHOW. He points out that one gallon of No. 2 fuel oil provides 135,000 btu's of heat, more than either LP or natural gas. "Our exclusive direct-fired burner extracts nearly every one of these 135,000 btu's and delivers it as usable drying heat." The new-style crop dryer is available in 7.2, 9.3 and 12.5 hp models, all equipped with a 27 in. dia. fan section. Capacities range from 540,000 to 945,000 btu's per hour (4 to 7 gal./hr.). Retail cost ranges from $2,300 to $2,600. "Any crop you can dry and market with LP or natural gas can be dried and marketed with this direct oil fired dryer," says Rogers. "It costs $500 to $800 more than a comparable capacity dryer operating on LP or natural gas. But, with a serious energy crunch, this difference might be easily offset by lower operating costs."
