"I was pretty sure I wasn't alone in my wish to have warm, weatherproof chaps that were made to suit female contours," Jett explains.
The outcome was that Jett got busy creating her own company to design, produce and market chaps for the benefit of other women like her.
Her "Original Rough Weather Chaps" have been available since last November.

The chaps are made from Polartec Power Shield« fleece, which has a thin, tough "shell" on the outside, and microfleece on the inside. The chaps are machine washable and lightweight, but warm.
"They're light enough to pack in a saddlebag and extremely abrasion resistant, water repellent, and highly breathable," she explains. "These chaps block 98 percent of the wind when I am out feeding, clearing snow and riding, and they're very quiet û there is less friction noise than you would have with other hard shell materials."
Besides being warmer than leather chaps, she says her USA-made product is stretchy and easy to zip, making them much more comfortable.
"You can easily forget that you have them on," she says, "and it's much easier to get on your horse because you're not up against cold, stiff leather chaps that don't want to bend."
The Original Rough Weather Chaps are available in brown with black ultra suede trim (other colors are available in limited quantities). They come in women's sizes including S, M, L, XL and 1X and the price is $159 per pair, plus S&H.
