Self propelled feeder mixer LIVESTOCK Miscellaneous 15-2-22 A Danish company's self-propelled feeder-mixer is the first self-propelled feeder that both mixes and conveys feed. It's designed to maneuver through narrow feed alleys in dairy and hog buildings. Spokesman Allan Bendixen says the new "Combi Mix" saves time 'and labor. "It mixes both light and heavy feeds uniformly, including corn silage and fodder such as meal and concentrates. All functions are fully hydraulic and controlled from the operator's seat." The Combi Mix is equipped with a 12-ft. long, 3 1/2-ft. wide mixing tank equipped with a pair of augers on the bottom. Ingredients are loaded into the tank through a mini hopper up front. During loading and mixing the rear end of the tank is raised. The augers bring feed up to the rear end of the tank where it then tumbles back down to the front, creating a mixing action. A conveyor feeds out to either side. Mixing time is from 5 to 10 minutes and discharge time is from 2 to 5-minutes. Auger revolutions can be varied from 0 to 35 per minutes. A weigh scale keeps track of the pounds of feed as it's fed out. The rig pivots in the middle for short turns. It's powered by a 16 hp diesel engine. Sells for $16,000.
