Bolt Bin Wall Uses Grain Cups FARM SHOP Handy Hints 27-3-36 Gord Stein of Barrhead, Alberta, is a bit of a "neat freak" in his farm shop. He says keeping everything organized and easily accessible helps him get his work done faster and more easily. One of his best ideas was a "bolt bin wall," he created by bolting plastic grain leg cups to a wall.
Stein made a deal with a local feed processor to buy 270 cups for 25 cents each if he removed them from the belting, which they wanted back.
The biggest job, according to Stein, was having to clean out the chaff that had become lodged in the cups. He also ground off the edges of the more damaged cups.
He used the same smooth-headed screws that held the cups on the belting to fasten them to the wall.
To make it easy to reach all the bins on the 8 by 12-ft. wall, Stein built and installed a sliding ladder on a 10-ft. section of barn door track.
He says the project took him a week of evenings to complete and his total cost was under $250.
