Van Feautres "Sit-N-Lift Seat FARM HOME Cars 28-1-31 GM has become the first U.S. automaker to offer a factory add-on option that allows disabled passengers to get in and out of minivans with ease.
Dubbed the "Sit-N-Lift," it mounts in the factory location without any additional modifications. An original-style seat simply attaches to a heavy-duty motorized base. A remote control for the seat only works when the minivan is in park and the door is completely open. The seat also stops moving if it encounters any obstacle. When activated, the seat pivots 90 degrees, extends 17 in., and lowers to the ground to make getting out of the van almost effortless. The lift has a capacity of about 300 lbs.
When it comes time to sell the van the Sit-N-Lift can be easily removed. If the vehicle is traded for another GM, the dealership will give a $1,000 credit for the chair.
