Water Massage Kit FARM HOME Bathroom 3-5-26 "Kids love it and so will you," promises the manufacturer of a new kit that turns an ordinary bathtub into a "Hydromassage Action Bath". The unit consists of a hollow, hard plastic bath mat with holes in the ribbed top. The mat comes in different sizes (28 or 38 in. long) to fit the bottom of your bathtub. Air from a wall-mounted blower is forced through the mat and into the bath water, creating "total tub turbulence". "This gentle action stimulates flow of blood throughout the entire body," explains George Munsell, president of VM Inc., St. Bonifacius, Minn. "It's a great way for kids of all ages to unwind at the end of the day. It also offers temporary relief for pain from arthritis, neuritis, muscle strains, as well as from plain old hard work." A hose runs from the bath mat to the wall-mounted unit which contains a 1/3 hp. blower motor. "Circulating air actually heats to 104? from motor heat so your tub water stays warm as you relax," explains Munsell. "The unit can be used with a bonnet to dry hair, or you can unplug the hose and use heat from the blower to dry off after your bath." Two power units are available. Model AB-100 is equipped with a straight "on-off" motor. Model AB400 features a timer that shuts off water action any time from 0 to 30 min. and a variable motor speed that controls air speed through the tub. Both 110-v. models are simply hung on the wall, hooked up to the bath mat and plugged in. When you have finished with the mat, it, too, hangs on the wall or towel rack. Cost for the AB-100 "on-off" model is right at $169, including a 38 or 28 in. bath mat. The deluxe models sells for $269. A 16 in. square foot mat, for use outside the tub, sells for $18. It sets inside a small container and can be used anywhere to provide massaging treatment for the feet. Munsell points out that if you already own a tank-type vacuum cleaner you can use it in placee of the blower motor.
