"Mini" Baler Makes 2-Lb. Mini Bales AG WORLD 27-4-23 An Indiana farmer builds these mini "hand feed" replica balers that produce miniature bales the way full-size bales were made early in the 20th century.
Dan Fox says the hand-powered unit makes bales that measure 8 1/2 by 4 1/2 by 3 5/8 in. and weigh about 2 lbs. The plunger that pushes hay through the chute is made from laminated hard maple with two coats of polyurethane. Wood blocks separate the bales as they go through the bale chute. A spring-loaded lever sets bale tension.
"It can be used to make up to 25 bales per hour," says Fox. "You can sell the bales at craft shows for up to $3 apiece or more. In some cases it can pay for itself within two days."
Sells for $695. Fox also makes a smaller unit that sells for $595.
