Deep band attachment works with wide sweeps FERTILIZER APPLICATION Fertilizer Application (58f) 10-3-25 Thanks to its exclusive back-swept knife, the new "Vern" attachment from Concord lets you use wide cultivator sweeps (up to 18 in.), giving you maximum weed control, seedbed preparation, deep-band fertilizer placement, and seeding ù all in one operation. The back-swept, rear-pointing knife puts fertilizer 2¢ in. below shovel depth without breaking up and drying out the soil at placement level, as often happens with conventional forward-swept knife applicators, according to Virgil Mahlum, marketing director. For small grain producers, it's tailor-made for paired-row seeding with air or gravity seeders, says Mahlum. Fertilizer (dry, liquid, ammonia, or combinations) is placed at a constant depth and distance in the middle of paired small grain rows. For corn growers, it allows you to cultivate with wide sweeps, and deep-band fertilizer, in one trip. Available with seed-boot only, deep fertilizer bander only, or both for one-trip fertilizing, seeding and cultivating with chisels, or with sweeps up to 18 in. wide.
